Client: Capuchin Soup Kitchen of Detroit

The Challenge: Since the 1929 stock market crash, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen has been a vital lifeline for the Detroit community. However, as the organization approached its 100th anniversary, it faced a dual challenge: the persistent, growing reality of poverty in the city and an aging infrastructure that struggled to keep pace. The organization needed a compelling way to announce “Vision 100,” a major capital campaign for multi-site renovations, while honoring their historical roots and maintaining the dignity of the guests they serve.

The Solution: We produced a narrative driven film centered on the perspective of Brother Gary, the kitchen’s director. By weaving together the historical “quester” tradition of seeking help with the modern day “Vision 100” roadmap, we transformed a series of construction updates into a powerful story of human connection. The film highlights specific impact areas, from youth spaces at Rosa Parks to the renovation of dining rooms, positioning the capital campaign not just as a building project, but as a necessary evolution to better serve the people of Detroit for the next century.
